ROUTE DESCRIPTION

From José María Córdova Square, you can see to the right (facing the church entrance) the steep zigzag path leading to Alto de la Virgen (a very short route of approx. 800 meters and low difficulty Level 1.5-2). The entrance is via Carrera Santander (or Carrera 20), walking toward the Police Command. A total of 123 steps and 27 short curves will take you to a beautiful view of the small town (about 20 minutes with a little sweat).
HISTORY AND CURIOSITIES
The land was donated to the parish by Mrs. Soledad Naranjo and Mr. Joaquín Aguilar. In 1942, a Marian congress took place in the municipality, and participants donated the statue of the Immaculate Conception located on the hill, the town's patroness.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
People often perform pilgrimages and religious processions along the trail, as this is a site of great historical and religious value. Today, the parish holds the celebration of the Night of the Little Candles here in December, and the area has become a tourism icon in the town.
